For the authentic experience and history of moonshine in Johnston County, visit Broadslab Distillery, North Carolina's first farm distillery. During tours, visitors will learn about the all-natural, handcrafted, premium products and how they are made "from dirt to bottle", by fifth generation distiller Jeremy Norris. Johnston County's first legal brewery opened in 2013, just outside the downtown district of Clayton, in a repurposed textile manufacturing plant. Today, visitors enjoy a variety of craft beers, many of which use locally grown raw materials like white sweet potatoes and watermelon. Founded in 2014, Fainting Goat is a small, independent, veteran, and woman-owned brewery located in downtown Benson. Gregory Vineyards offers a fine selection of muscadine wines and juices.
